About

Images are a strong form of communication. A single image can carry a story with the weight of character and emotion. As a portrait photographer, I am most interested in the stories, that go overlooked by the naked eye. By creating a relationship with my subject I am able to become familiar with their personality and possibly discover aspects of their lives that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. I have discovered that people appreciate the interest that I take and the care that I put in to illustrate what is unique about them. My goal is to create an emotional connection between the viewer and my subjects with every single frame that I make. This process remains the same for every subject that I work with. Whether they have come to me or I have sought them out, I am able to approach every person that I meet with an interest and curiosity for who they are beyond how they present themselves. My work illustrates what a snap shot can never capture. Lighting is a significant element in my images. It is my most prominent element of communication.

In my photography, I focus on the story that I wish to tell from the characteristics of a subject, to the atmosphere of a location. I use light to shape an idea within the frame by building depth and emotion. These visual cues are often absent from reality. They are hidden within the frame, waiting to be exposed. My goal is to find these visual cues through my subject and the connection that I make with them. Going forward, I anticipate the many faces that stand in front of my lens and their stories which I am challenged to tell. Every portrait that I make is a development of my visual connection with my subject. That connection will continue to grow along with the assignments that I take on.
